Rwanda - The Days After Genocide
The Rwandian Genocide was considered over after "The 100 Days Of Slaughter". This does not mean all the killings all the violence was done away with There where hundreds of thousands dead Hutus and Tutsis laying all over streets, in homes, in fields. The genocide was far from over, it has left it's mark. The people of Rwanda now had to take their time to recover. During the days following the slaughter, help and reinforcements were sent over the Rwanda.
Families were no longer one. They were destroyed, due to all the killings. Thousands of women and children were gone, it was the death of a generation. The people of Rwanda built memorials and other structures as a way to symbolize what happened. Memorials of the genocide's victims were all over Rwanda. Huge stone tablets full of names, statues, and more were built. Like previously mentioned, some countries sent over help to the Rwandian people.
They gave them food, medical assistance, and most importantly, safety. They helped to protect the Rwandian's and did their best to prevent what could have been, the aftermath of the genocide.
The genocide was finally almost over at this point in time. Although people in Rwanda were still being killed, innocent children were still being killed, and chaos was rampant, it was a big step away from the past 100 days. You no longer would feel like someone wanted you dead at every second of the day. Rwanda was a safer place, and the mass murders were ceased.
